Location, Location, Location

I have found out my location for my Guest Relations PI. And I have to admit I am a little disappointed because I did not get EPCOT.

I’m trying not to be disappointed because I know this is a very competitive internship and it is really great that I was selected. I just really had my heart set on EPCOT. EPCOT is my favorite park and I know a lot of people do not enjoy it and often feel like they can skip it all together. But I really love it. I wanted to share that love with guests and help them enjoy it like I do.

My location will be.....

I’m sure my location will be fun and just as great. I’m worried about getting enough hours at this location and I don’t really feel a connection to this park because it is my least favorite.

I’m also trying to look at is as this: Professional Internships are about learning. Disney probably didn’t put me at EPCOT because I have already worked there, by placing me somewhere new I can really learn more and gain more from the experience.

Here are some more photos from the park!

  1. Congrats on getting your PI!! I've been following you for a few years(I want to say since like 2010?) and since then I've had the opportunity to do my own Disney College Program. I didn't get chosen for a PI and so I left Disney to come back to my hometown to get my MBA, but so far that hasn't happened yet. Animal Kingdom might not have been your first choice, in fact it was probably bottom of your list like it would have been on mine(lets be honest here, lol). However, I still think you will learn great things and make it a magical experience if you choose to! One of my friends has been ALL. OVER. THE. PLACE. and that's one of the great things about Disney! Hopefully this will ultimately give you the experience to lead you to where you want to be!!

Congrats again on getting the PI!!

    1. Thank you! And thanks for following my journey for so long haha! I think I will enjoy it and learn more about this park. What PI did you apply for? Do you plan to apply again once you finish your MBA?

    2. haha no problem. I'll admit it wasn't consistent because I stopped blogging for those couple of years but it was good to come back and see that one of the blogs I had followed then was still updating now. I actually haven't started my MBA yet because I've questioned whether or not I actually want to, but we shall see. Oh goodness, let's see I applied for Fall 2012 PI's. I applied for the merchandising management PI, multiple alumni only ones(including guest relations!), a couple costuming ones, merchandise product development, and a couple CMR ones for fun. I graduated in December 2011 with my Bachelor's so I think if I come back to Disney(which is looking more & more appealing to be honest), I would just go for part-time or full-time. If I had done my CP a semester out of undergrad and was graduating soon, I would consider the PI, but now I think taking another route might be more beneficial to me. Who knows though!

  2. You'll love it I am sure!!! My daughter when she did her CP worked at AK at Dinosaur. She called when she got her assignment and was so disappointed that she "got her least favorite park and her least favorite attraction" BUT let me tell you she fell in love with the park and all the folks at her attraction and is now so grateful for her assignment. She made life long friends that are like family to us now. I am betting you'll feel the same way!

    1. I think so, now that the initial disappointment has worn off I am looking forward to working here. Because it is something new and to be honest I know very little about this park and it's history.

  3. Congratulations on your PI! Regardless of work location, that really is an accomplishment. I have never been to AK, but I am looking forward exploring it in depth during my CP. How awesome that you get to learn your work location in advance. I can't wait to figure out where I will be working! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Hi Kate! I just accepted a PI in Guest Relations, and I was wondering how you found out your location. Did you actually get to rank each one? Thanks!
