Movement

So recently on the Facebook page other people have been saying that they got a new option on their dropdown menu of their dashboard. Previously you would see 'Alumni Only Internships" and could click on it to check your progress. Now people are starting to get specific internships listed. So it would say "Alumni Only: Ticket Fufillment" or "Alumni Only: Guest Correspondence" and you can then check your status for that specific internship.

Today I log onto the dashboard and see that I have a new drop down for GUEST RELATIONS!!!

I am beyond excited! I really hope this is good news. I am thinking it must mean they are seriously considering me for this role, if they went to the trouble to create a specific drop down for it. I don't want to get my hopes up, because I don't want to be disapointed but it is so hard not to be hopeful and excited!

Alumni Only is my only internships left in Progress. I have gone NLIC for all my others. I'm okay with that though, because as I said before, I know that they looked at my materials for the graphic design ones and decided I was not a good fit. I know there are people out there with a much higher skill level than I have.

Meanwhile Guest Relations has always been my dream and my #1 from the start! I really hope Disney thinks I'm right for this role!

Reflections

So I just went NLIC for two more graphic design internships. Yellow Shoes Art Director and Distribution Marketing Graphic Design. I'm kind of upset at these, although at least I know they looked at my samples before saying no thanks.

I'm at this weird point where my career could go off into to separate paths. I've wanted to work for Yellow Shoes doing graphic design for quite some time, but I also feel that to get a career in graphic design I would really need to go to portfolio school.  A graphic design internship would really set me on the path to doing that.

On the other hand I really love guest service! And it is also a dream of mine to do Guest Relations and get into lodging management at one of the resorts. An internship in GR might set me up on the path to do that.

And then there is the unknown...I'm still in the running for several event planning internships, something else I know I would be good at and enjoy.

Perhaps I should have majored in something that got you a job with a specific title. Like Accounting or Education. I feel like there are so many different ways this could turn out!!

Some I went NLIC for right away. The recruitment marketing one I was "In Progress" for a little while and then went to No Longer In Consideration. I don't feel as bad about that one because I was rejected after a real person looked at my application and materials.

So just waiting and hoping for good news!

Accepted to the CP

After 18 days of waiting, panicking, stressing I have finally been accepted to the College Program!

I am currently home from break, so I was sitting with my Mom watching TV and I checked my email and saw Congratualations! I immediately started screaming that I got in and my mom started screaming 'What role?? What role?" We couldn't figure out how to open the link at first but then I saw this:

I got CONCIERGE!!!! This was my 1st choice so I am beyond happy! My mom and sister and I started screaming some more and jumping up and down.

I was feeling very uneasy about my CP interview and did not think I was going to be accepted. Plus it had been 18 days and I had heard nothing. I was getting worried because others who interviewed after me were hearing back and I wasn't!

I am still looking to hear from my PIs. My 1st choice for PIs is Guest Relations. If I do not get one of these internships I will be doing Concierge, and hopefully that will set me up to get into Guest Relations next season.

Regardless I now offically have plans for after graduation!!! I'm going to Disney World!!!
